I need some advice please. The background: Until a year ago I had two cats, one male and one female. Had been together since 4 weeks old. Sadly my male cat passed away leaving my timid female. We've just moved from a city to the countryside and our house backs on to open fields. We have DD 5 months old.

Since we've moved house the cat has decided to wee on our bathroom floor on a daily basis. I've seen her outside sometimes so she is using catflap. She never poos inside (sorry tmi!) so is going out.

I don't know why she's doing this. I'm guessing it is all the changes but how can I help her to start going out I really hate litter trays. She completely refuses to go out if the ground is wet even if I go outwith her.

Any advice will be gratefully received Halloween Smile

You need a litter tray I'm afraid. What's worse? A tray or wee on the floor? It's very difficult to manage without a tray completely. Lots of cats don't like to go outside if it's raining, or if the ground is frozen, or if there is scary cat outside, or they're feeling under the weather ... etc etc. And the older they get the more reluctant they seem to be to go outside all the time.

Bite the bullet and get the poor girl a tray.

Ah I thought that might be the case. I'll set one up tonight for her. I hate that she is so scared of going outside though. When there were the two of them I'd see them outside all day mucking about. Thanks for your help
