Small abscess

Just been giving our boy a cuddle, when i've noticed a small abscess on his head, sort of between his ear and his left eye. When i came home yesterday, he was climbing the walls, darting in and out of the house, which he gets like when an cat intruder has been in the garden, and he is prone to fighting, esp with the other local boy cats, so i'm sort of a mind that he might have got into a scrap.

I've bathed it with a little salt water, but just wondering if there is anything else i can do, and if it warrants a trip to the vet? It hasn't burst (yet) and he doesn't seem to be in any pain with it. Just after a bit of advice!

Sounds just like a fighting wound doesn't it?

I'd be considering a vet visit tomorrow I think. (Not an OOH one.) Most of the abscesses my scrapping boys have had have swollen and burst and it's in a sort of an awkward place as well - so I'd be keeping an eye on it in case ABs or painkillers were needed. Saline bathing is good.

How is the miscreant in other ways eg eating and drinking?

He's fine, he's been very affectionate the past few weeks (ever since we went away for a few days, first time he and the others have been left at home with other people coming to feed them) He's eating well, and doesn't seem disgruntled in any way. Will keep a close eye on him, and bath the abscess again in the morning.

Ooh I'd be down the vets anyway tomorrow, even without that nice young vet being there now.

It must hurt them.
