House infested with fleas

Hi my sil has just phoned in a panic her house is infested with cat fleas. Apart from treating her cat how does she get rid of them? Does she need professional help and if yes how much roughly would that cost she doesn't have much money. TIA

She needs to buy a spray for the house (a proper one - Acclaim or Inodorex) and follow the instructions. And she needs to treat her cat with a proper flea treatment - not an 'off the shelf one' (not only do 'off the shelf' ones not really work, some of them are positively dangerous to cats) so Advantage, Stronghold or Advocate are best.

she also needs to put all her curtains through as hot a wash as they will take, hoover all soft furnishings cushions pillows etc, hoover the house from top to bottom with a good hoover such as a dyson if she has one, this will reduce the egg load and then make sure she empties the hoover bag straight away into an outdoor bin

You can buy the sprays in vets, or in just about any chemist/pharmacy or in Pets at Home

Don't waste money on sprays, get ab professional in. Sprays are pricey and can be a bit hit and miss, but pest control man was only £65 for a three bed house and fleas zapped with immediate effect. That price was for West Yorkshire, about 18 months ago.

I agree . I spent a fortune at the vets on sprays, none of which worked I paid the council £60 to spray the whole house. Job done, it was worth every penny

Thanks i'll pass on all your advice and let her decide what to do but I think she would prob be best to get the council in.

indorex spray, the only one that works, get it on amazon though, cheaper than vets
