Heard very strange noise coming from our garden, went to investigate and found tiny kitten, at a very uneducated guess we put it at five weeks, seems ok but has very gunky eyes, it was following our cat around, we fed it kitten food and water and I guess we are off to the vets tomorrow to get it checked for chip ( although prob. Too young), looks like we have got a new addition to the family !!

I get stray dogs in my garden. I've had 3 in as many years.

Always thought it was a coincidence until the penny dropped that I owned an unspayed bitch!

Now she's been spayed I'm hoping for fewer dog rescue incidents!
even if I am the local wildlife rescuer

Never any kittehs though Sad

Have just checked and can't see a willy

You won't, I have never seen one and one of my regular visitors is incredibly proud of his large ginger - well looking at him from the back you know he is a boy.

Have a look - 2 dots = boy, one dot and a dash=girl (but it is difficult to tell)

Perhaps they've heard about her, Sparkling, & are thus scareded? Maybe you need to hyponotise SparklingCat to get her to want kittens as much as you do?

issey6cats · 04/10/2013 10:53

the chances are if this is a lone kitten and unkempt with gunky eyes that mom has abandoned it, 5-6 weeks is also when kits start appearing in public , as feral moms are very aware if theres something wrong with kits and they will just walk away,

the chances are its cat flu that little one has got as outside born kits are very prone, i have seen loads of kittens survive flu, but it does mean if he/she has flu and they recover they will be carriers of the antibodies all thier lives so if in the future you got another kitten you would have to make sure that they had anti flu jabs as this one could pass it on,

Any news dads?

DidoTheDodo · 04/10/2013 16:36

I'm another one who has never found a kitty in the garden.
Swizz.

But I love the idea of leaving Dreamies out!

kitten is well, we took him to the vets and she did think he had flu but that it should clear itself in a week if not to go and get antibiotics, he is absolutely lovely, much more lively today and keeps nuzzling at the dog who seems to have taken a shine to him Smile kids are absolutely overjoyed, vet seems to think he's about 5 -
6 weeks old, we have bought him some cat milk which he loved, so all is good just have to persuade DS5 we are not calling him pooch or rock blaster !!

I found a tiny kitten a few weeks ago (under the car bonnet!) there is a massive thread on here about it and everyone was so helpful with suggestions. Lovely to read about another happy outcome Smile
