Is talking to my cats bonkers?

Seriously.

Alfie talks at me constantly (when not asleep). Mostly it's 'feed me' or 'let me out/in' or 'time for bed Wisey' and some stuff in between.

But bugger me, I find I'm talking back!

Boy cat purrs then gets a glazed look on his face when you stroke his face with both hands and talk to him.

He also does a lot of talking and chirruping.

Lulu chirrups loads. Mainly when she wants to get under the covers and share the bed.

Good grief I'm sure i'll end up mad cat lady.

talk to mine all the time, mind you i live on my own so if i didnt talk to them i would look rather silly talking to myself, my little girl cat i swear has been here before and im sure she knows what im talking about, you would have to look in her eyes to know what im saying there is so much of a knowing look on her face, her brother on the other hand is so innocent and a bit nice but dim

Haven't sung to them yet though. Mind you, have recently begun to learn guitar and when I'm practising Alfie gets quite vocal.

I talk to mine all the time and there are three kids plus a dog here as well so it's not as if I don't have the opportunity to talk to people!

Talking to the Mau is the best way of shutting him up actually - he is constantly miaowing but seems to enjoy conversation which usually goes along the lines of:

Shuri: yowl (he has a very strong Arabian accent ...)
Me: really?
Shuri: yowl-owl-owl
Me: Uh-huh, and then what happened?
Shuri: Yowl, miaow, yowl
Me: that sounds very interesting
Shuri: Miaow, chirrup, purr

etc etc etc

Dh plays guitar and our cat gets very vocal while its on too. Or he sits with one paw resting on Dh's arm while be shouts at him to stfu so he can have his nap.

Interesting what you say about accent basildon. Alfie has a sort of Welsh male vocal choir accent and his sister Lulu has a bit of a naive Sloane Sq sound.

Definitely need to get out more.

I talk to the cat. So does DH but I do it more - since she is vocal anyway, the back-and-forth can go on quite a while. I think of her having a bit of an Essex twang.

I talk to my cat all the time.

My old cat used to answer and we would have really quite "sensible" conversations. New kitty is not a talkative cat at all, and I miss that aspect, but I continue to witter on to her at great length.

I think it would be more bonkers not to talk to cats.

I think it would be rude NOT to talk to them, frankly.

The ZebraCats are both very chatty & like to play Marco Polo with us across the house. Well, more Meow IAMHERECAT, really...

Mine quite like it when I sing, but I have to stick to the mid-range: am a soprano & they get a bit startled by anything over about an F - which only gives me just under 2 octaves to play with. They don't mind as much when it's a recording, though, so I guess it's more than just the pitch.
