Has anyone had any experience with pancreatitis in cats?
4 year old male cat has been ill for 6 months, assumed IBD, had blood test (clear), faeces sample, tried antibiotics, steroids, hypoallergenic food, but no improvement, now off food, losing weight fast....
Physical examination not showing anything so vet wants to do another blood test tomorrow but also scan of abdomen, if that shows nothing then exploratory, either via mouth or operation....
Is also saying if he doesnt start eating they want to keep him in and put him on a drip....!
It's such a nightmare and so stressful......
Anyone had any experience with this? or where vet thought it may be this but was something else?
Thx

Have they submitted a blood sample for an FPli test yet?
The issue with cats who have pancreatitis is that as the pain occurs in response to eating they believe that the food 'bit them' so won't eat any more - who knows what goes on inside the heads of cats. I have had cats who have had to have feeding tubes put in to overcome this. The longest I have had a feeding tube in before the cat ate is 6 weeks.
Bloody diarrhoea is a very rare feature in pancreatitis normal the first sign is vomiting and not eating.

he had blood test including that test 6 months ago, came back negative - has had another blood test today, has scan booked for tomorrow

is eating boiled chicken breast at the moment, so that's a plus, he lost 1 kilo over 6 weeks :(
