So go and get it done.

YY everyone go and get this done. It is so important.

cozietoesie · 25/09/2013 18:06

Thanks for the tip, Fluffy. Such a small price for such a large benefit.

ZebraOwl · 26/09/2013 03:16

Thanks for letting us know, will make sure I pass it on!

I was able to get my cats chipped & snipped at reduced cost (thanks to the Cats Protection voucher scheme) but if I'd not been eligible I'd've scraped together the cash somehow because I think it's so important.

TheWinterOne · 26/09/2013 09:44

I did the same as Zebra, both mine got done when they were spayed and snipped :).

Will definitely let others know though as it's certainly worth doing. Is it just for cats or does it include dogs also? (I have a few family members with dogs and I know it's going to become compulsory to get them all chipped soon.)

ZebraOwl · 26/09/2013 11:46

Even with mine having since decided that they are indoor cats I'm still glad they're chipped just in case they decided to go leaping off one day...

I can't find any info on the Pets At Home event, but Dogs Trust are doing [http://www.chipmydog.org.uk/?page_id=107 free] microchipping sessions, Winter, so perhaps they would be interested?

ZebraOwl · 26/09/2013 11:47

Gah. That would be free microchipping. Fail, self, fail.

TheWinterOne · 26/09/2013 11:52

Thanks Zebra will pass this on to family. :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/09/2013 12:03

It didn't specify but there was a picture of a cat and a dog

Thanks Fluffy. If it shows both then I guess it should apply to the pair - otherwise it's a false advertisement and should specify which one.

cozietoesie · 26/09/2013 12:18

All the references on the net are to 'pets' so I guess dogs are part of it.

DidoTheDodo · 26/09/2013 14:12

Got my girl done when she was spayed. Seemed better to do it while she was under the GA somehow!

ZebraOwl · 26/09/2013 21:53

You're welcome Winter Smile

Dido - it is a bloody great needle for the chip so our vet recommends you have it done when they're under the GA for neutering!

cozietoesie · 26/09/2013 22:03

The Lodger never even noticed. The chief vet nurse showed him a treat while the needle was going in and he's so nice-food-focussed that he wouldn't have noticed a marching band going past.

ZebraOwl · 26/09/2013 23:35

Am imagining a marching band parading through a veterinary surgery. There IS a Music In Hospitals project at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals Trust (rheumatology appointments are so much more fun with live harp music just outside the consulting room, yes) so maybe we will see this yet...
