Clueless Cats

Anyone else have a cat that is cunning as a fox on one thing (hunting everything in the known world and eating it) and totally gormless with another skill (pushing a ball around which is full of treats and holes).

Huntertabby is gorgeous, feels like silk, hunts like a demon, but cannot fathom the basic blue holey ball that I fill with treats to entertain him. He just sits and stares at it hopefully. I push it. He eats the treats that have dropped. He sits and stares. I use his paw to push it. He eats the treats. He sits and stares. I leave it all day. He sits and stares.

Tortiecat - shoved it around and ate the treats upon first sight of the thing. Followed around by a hopeful Huntertabby.

With great respect, Lovethesea he doesn't sound gormless to me - he's getting you and Tortiecat trained gradually but nicely!

You'd think ... but I give up and leave him staring and Tortiecat just eats them and walks off Grin

He's taking the long view. just ask yourself whether a cat which is a cunning and inventive hunter should be flummoxed by a piece of plastic?

I think not.
