I have two adult cats already but have been rather taken with a beautiful black kitten that a local rescue has. She is 10 weeks old and being a black cat doesn't have lots of enquiries. So she is coming to me and I am really looking forward to having her here.

She came from a stray mother so it was four weeks before the kittens were handled, thankfully since that time she has been fostered by a lady with other cats and children. She is still quite nervous though so is going to need lots of handling and playing with to ensure she gets used to us.

It's my "rehome an unwanted kitten" moment lol. Can't wait to get her.

How lovely. How do you think your current cats will react? How do you plan to do the introductions?

Been advised to just introduce.....but leave escape routes for the older cats. This kitten is timid so doubt they will know she is around for the first few days.

aww lovely and yes im of the just introduce category thats what i do when i foster, expect a bit of hissing and putting kitten in her place for a couple of days but good on you for taking on a timid and black kitten, pics please when she has settled

Considering doing some fostering myself ....local rescue group who my kitten is coming from always need fosterers.

i would say give it a go to be a fosterer you have to give lots of love but always have it in the back of your mind they are not your kittens you are looking after them for someone else like a holiday at yours,

its hard sometimes because they are so dammed cute, but i love doing it i get my kitten fix and someone else gets the hopefully years of a loving cat, and the joy of turning a scared little one into a lap cat who purrs and knows what love is theres no words for it, hopefully though the hooligans cant go back to the rescue for another couple of weeks i have just offered to foster a 10 week old feral aswell
