You might as well get one that will also be fine for when he/she grows up. Avoid the cheap ones with plastic doors - a strong and determined cat can break their way out and people have lost their cats that way. So - don't buy these: www.petsathome.com/shop/small-plastic-door-carrier-for-cats-and-small-dogs-by-roadrunner-13613

The Ferplast range are good:www.petsathome.com/shop/atlas-wire-door-open-top-cat-and-small-dog-carrier-by-ferplast-13651

or these seem fine: www.petsathome.com/shop/large-wire-door-carrier-for-cats-and-small-dogs-by-roadrunner-102107

As above, kittens grow up fast.

The last one I bought was going to have to contain Oneago while he made a plane journey so I made the decision to buy an adult size wire door one that would suit airline standards. He looked fit to drown in it (but quite adorable) as he was only 13 weeks but I've not had to get another one despite a lot of usage.

I'd get a proper (large cat) size one if you can afford it - and remember that the extra will likely be on a marginal cost basis.
