My cat didn't come home last night.

Boy cat hasn't been seen since yesterday tea time. He never wanders far from home and usually comes back regularly during the evening, meows at us, then goes out again. He's always the first one in for the night and usually spends a lot of the evening on the sofa with us.

It's so unlike him to stay out that I'm sure something has happened to him. He's still out and it's pouring with rain.

hopefully he has sheltered somwhere ask at neighbours if they have sheds or garages if they could have a look for you see if hes gone in one and not able to get back out again, leave your back door open, put his food near the back door the smell of the food may tempt him back in, i wouldnt wqorry too much he may just be late coming home, one of mine does this doasent appear back in the evening, doaenst come in at breakfast and just as i start to panic he appears out of nowhere and just poodles in

Girl cat does that regularly but he never does. If he's not home in a few hours I'll be out asking the neighbours if I can look in their sheds. He's not always the brightest cat so he could be stuck somewhere. We're in a village and live in a cul de sac a little way off the main road so he shouldn't have got himself run over. I think he goes to the farm nearby sometimes though.

Lots of sheds and outhouses etc in farms - I'd make that your first port of call if he's not back soon.

Best of luck.

He's such a loud cat at home, surely if he was stuck somewhere he'd have let everyone know! He hardly leaves the garden usually.

In my experience, they tend to keep quiet if they're stuck or hiding somewhere which is not their own place - so not necessarily.

The farm may not be the place but it's a very good bet. If it's a working farm, they could well have people in and out of outbuildings throughout the day - although it could be a garage in a local neighbour's domestic property or something.

I really hope that he is just stuck somewhere. I really hope that I'm worrying about nothing and he comes strolling in soon. He's usually very clingy. I have to go out soon but when I come back if he's not sat yowling by the back door as usual then I'll be searching for him.

He'd got himself shut in the neighbour's garage. Silly boy, it took us ages to get him out from under the car.

Glad he's back. Is he to get a treat for his tea?

That's a relief!

Madratlady · 19/09/2013 20:39

Cozie He had some of the fish from my tea cos we went to the chippy.

He was terrified having spent the night in a cold and unfamiliar place, he's clearly very pleased we found him and brought him home, he was hidden right under the car silently, thankfully the neighbour searched his garage with a torch just in case he was in there and came to get us when he saw that he was under there. I suppose it's one way of getting to know the neighbours!

With any luck, he'll be a homeboy for a bit now.

timtam23 · 19/09/2013 22:07

So glad that you found him! Smile

cozietoesie · 20/09/2013 12:14

Is he staying close Madrat - or is he completely unpenitent?

DidoTheDodo · 20/09/2013 12:19

Good news! Glad he's back. And naughty cat for worrying you so much.

Madratlady · 20/09/2013 12:32

He was super cuddly yesterday and he's quite a cuddly cat anyway. I took him and girlcat to bed with me as well even though we usually have a no cats in bed on work nights rule because he wakes me up about 6am wanting food or attention or both.

So pleased you found him - it does fill you with a cold feeling of dread, doesn't it?
