Cat allergy flared up again.

I have asthma and never allowed pets because I knew I was allergic to cats and dogs (was tested).
Anyway two years ago I cracked and let DS2 (now 15) have his longed for cat. He is devoted to him.
DS2 is a bit allergy prone as well as me and at first we were both a bit itchy and sneezy but it wore off.
I brush secretcat regularly, though he's not moulting as much now as in the spring.
In the last few weeks though both DS and I have got much worse, streaming eyes, nose and itchy. No doubt it is the cat as we are fine away from home.
Any clue why this could be? Is there something that changes in the autumn?
I did suggest we don armour and bath him but DS was agahst.

hi its the cats saliva you are allergic to not his fur, there is an anzyme in cat saliva that affects people, there are some wipes you can buy i think they are called petal dont know exactly as i dont have any probs, but basically you wipe the cats fur with them and it cuts downthe amount of dander and allergens in the cats fur,
