So sorry about your loss ozyymandius but for her to live that long, you must have gave her a wonderful life where she was loved and very well cared. I hope that when you feel ready, you'll get another puss.

I think we'll get another one in the new year, considering a rescue one this time instead of a kitten.

Thank you Cozietoesie and Ratatouille, I think we are a little too old to get another puss (I should probably be onGrans net ) but I like to keep up!
I think to have a rescue cat is very admirable. There are so many "moggies" who need a good home we don't need to buy a pedigree, who come with a lot of inherent problems.
Once again thank you for your support, I appreciate it.

We have 9 - and for anyone wanting more, we've found that Morethan have great deals on multi-cat policies! :)

We buy food in bulk online.

People keep offering us kittens as they think as we have loads anyway another one wouldn't make much difference but we've drawn the line (at least until I start getting broody for kittens again.....)

Lovethesea · 14/09/2013 20:05

Oh it's not kittens I want, never had one, it's just the chance to get another one out of rescue and into a home life.

Mind you Feisty Tortie tolerates Tabby Hunter fine since he has learnt she doesn't do wrestling play (where did she learn to swear so blue?!!) but I can imagine fur flying if we tried to get another cat in here.

Tabby Hunter would share with an army quite happily, as long as he's fed and can get onto our kingsize bed and stretch out a metre long.

Sigh. I'd have tons more if it wasn't for cost.

CatOfTheDay · 14/09/2013 22:41

I'd love a few more rescue cats too (our last two were from the local cats home - we chose an older cat AND a kitten!), the other cats would disagree though!
I'd love to go back for the little boy that shared a pen with our Luna but he's just so timid I don't think he'd cope at all here :(

Finally a place where I'm not the mad cat lady Grin

I have 4. One white, one black, one black & white and a tabby. Have been contemplating getting another. I'm sure another round my legs won't be too much more to handle. Just been looking at some online. People trying to sell moggies for £50 Shock I rescued my last one from the permanently pregnant cat at the Chinese takeaway (and took mother to get done)

Up until 3 weeks ago I had 4. Sadly I now only have 2.
My 11 month old female got knocked over on Friday 23rd August literally a few metres from my front door. On Tuesday 27th we had to have our 12 year old male PTS due to kidney disease and heart failure as he was shutting down.
That was the hardest thing I ever had to do especially 4 days after losing our female.

We have lost 4 cats in 4 years and It seems to get harder each time.

My house now feels so empty.

We still have a 9 year old semi longhair ginger and cream Maine Coon looky like. He is a big massive soppy cuddle monster.
And we have a 3 year old very pale Ginger (almost beige) and white semi longhair who has the loudest purr ever.

We will get another one someday but I am still grieving for my babies so wont be for a good while yet. Sad

I have two 17-month old cats, littermate boys the vet's pretty certain have different fathers: the litter was 3 jet-black kittens, 2 vivid-bright ginger kittens & 1 blonde kitten. One of the black kittens & the blonde kitten came to live with me when they were 8 weeks old after a rough start & they have maintained a very close relationship. I'm very glad I got two kittens not one because they so obviously gain so much from each other - they're also very clingy kitties, bless them, so it's definitely a good thing for them to have each other for company when their humans aren't around.

Much sympathy to those of you currently grieving for lost cats.

ozymandius - perhaps you could consider giving a home to an older cat? They're often harder to home - lots of people don't like the idea of having only a few years with a cat or are concerned about the difficulty &/or expense of additional needs related to age - but can be incredibly life-brightening. My Daddy's previous cat was an older lady (vet was uncertain about her exact age) who would have struggled to find a home if Daddy & my Stepmother hadn't taken her on.

Morloth · 16/09/2013 07:29

1 - she is an only and will stay that way.

MusicalEndorphins · 16/09/2013 07:39

We have 1 cat now, aged 17.

pearlgirl · 16/09/2013 07:44

3 - mum and two of her daughters. All three are all black and from a distance they are identifiable only by their different coloured collars, closer to they all have little distinguishing features - but the few white hairs on the tummy involves picking said cat up and turning her over to check.

DENMAN03 · 19/09/2013 19:36

I have three. One old ginger moggie who is now 14 and whom I have had from a kitten. And two sphynx nutters! Prune and Moriarty.. Love them all but especially Prune.( but don't tell the others!) she likes to be on my shoulder the whole time..think she was a parrot in a former life!

QuietTiger · 21/09/2013 13:17

We have 9. Grin Our bed can get a bit crowded at night!!

charlottesmum5 · 21/09/2013 13:24

I have 7 Grin and yes they sleep with me too!

skittycat · 21/09/2013 16:45

Three... i've somehow managed to collect various shades of white as well...

Cat 1 came from a rescue centre shortly after old cat had to be put to sleep. Cat 1 is a seal mitted rag doll...

Cat 2 came from a colleague that I worked with who decided that she didn't have time for him anymore (he was about 8 weeks old at this point and she'd already had him a month scowl). He's white... with a grey tail...

Cat 3 came from my partners sister who let her cat have kittens scowl She is white with ginger ears and a ginger stripey tail.

...I really want a tuxedo cat though, but it is quite amusing seeing a pile of white cats on the black sofa.
