What foods do your cats/kittens go crazy for?

Boy cat absolutely loves chicken. DH was making a chicken sandwich for himself last week. Boy cat had gone out on his daily jolly but it's like he had a sniff of it from wherever he was. By the time DH had turned around to sit down with it - boy cat was there. He was literally humping up his leg to get at the chicken.

He smells it a mile off.

tuna and felix sauce sensations or whatever the expensive stuff is called

sleepingdragon · 10/09/2013 19:23

One of my cats is a very fussy eater- will only eat 1 brand and flavour of cat biscuits and never more than 1 or 2 mouthfuls of meat or fish of offered, if at all. But she loves 'cat caviar' (overpriced slithers of dried fish)- when she smells it she even licks her lips!

thesixteenthtry · 10/09/2013 21:03

My cats don't like any of the usual things cats love, like butter or cheese, but both love baked beans.

RussianBlu · 10/09/2013 23:14

Mine is really into the Thrive treats.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2013 23:15

cheese for one (esp parmesan) and yoghurt for the other - he would swipe my head of to get at my yoghurt without a thought for me... and he's normally devoted to me!

chickensaladagain · 10/09/2013 23:21

One of mine has a thing for crisps

Any flavour, any brand -just crisps!

He can hear you opening a packet from 3 floors up and will literally stick his head in the bag if you aren't careful -he can also open Pringles

chickydoo · 10/09/2013 23:30

Oh we have the crisp thing too. Cat no 1 adores crisps & chicken.
Cat no 2 likes cake ( but not chocolate cake)
Cat no 3 likes dairy, cheese, cream, butter and milk
Cat no 4 drinks gravy ( she has no teeth)

MrsMongoose · 11/09/2013 00:05

Not food, but the smell of bleach. They go bat shit crazy and star rubbing themselves on stuff.

issey6cats · 11/09/2013 09:35

my half siamese was born feral so basically anything that i am trying to eat is fair game to be swiped off my plate i have to eat one handed while batting off cat with the other hand

my lot appear out of nowhere when the cheese packet comes out of the fridge they wait for me to drop the bits that crumble for them

and tuna if im making a sandwich they know they are going to get the half a tin left between them

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2013 09:38

I feel left out. Sad Sparkling Cat will eat Felix as Good as it Looks pouches in Fish varieties. That is it. She wont eat Dreamies, or any other treats. No human food at all. Nothing.

She never pesters while you are eating or cooking ever.

Is she weird?

issey6cats · 11/09/2013 09:42

no sparkling shes not weird you are lucky i usually have 6 furry vultures looking at me in a line when im eating i would rather have a non invasive bunch than the guilt trip they try because i dare to eat something lol

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2013 09:47

She was 3 when we got her and I would love to know what happened in those 3 years to make her like this.

cozietoesie · 11/09/2013 10:18

The chicken pieces in Sainsbury's curry meals. (Yes, I was that purchaser, Reader. Blush) Otherwise, not much at all.

The Lodger loved anything raw.

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2013 10:24

Sparkling cat always brings us an array of wildlife gifts-birds/voles/slow worms, but never eats them. Our old cat used to eat the lot and just leave the poisonous bit on the patio.

cozietoesie · 11/09/2013 10:30

You're feeding SC too much, Sparkling. Make the blighter work for a living!

MexicanHat · 11/09/2013 11:28

Mine loves chicken too! She also like grated cheese.

I get her in at night by shaking a packets of Dreamies - and it works 99% of the time Smile

girlieg · 11/09/2013 13:41

Cat will eat go cat. He won't each cheap own brands. Fussy cat

ZebraOwl · 11/09/2013 13:57

Both of my cats adore chicken, it is their Favourite & Best. They especially love chicken&pumpkin & pumpkin is obviously well-liked as they are also keen on salmon&pumpkin. Any time they get catmilk (a very occasional treat) they go bananas with delight.

When it comes to Food That Is Not Theirs, they are forever trying to steal my cereal bars, although that seems to be mostly to chew them to bits rather than actually eat them. My brother has to keep a close eye when he has cheese as blond!cat will try to steal it - he once managed to make off with a packet of feta while my brother was distracted, and had chewed his way into it before being apprehended. Blond!cat likes to lick my fingers clean for me if I've eaten fruit & have some juice on my hands.
