Our ginger tom cat (or is he still a kitten) turns 5 months next week and I wonder if we are over feeding him!
He had been having a pouch of wet food a day (100g) spread out over 3 times a day (when he was small) with cat milk and water. Now he still gets 100g but spread out twice a day, still water but no cat milk. Over the last two or three months we introduced chrunchies, and the occasional Dreamies as a treat (about 7 a day). Then we went to dry food but also kept up the wet food. He was not always so keen on the wet so occasionally if it was a flavour he did not favour he would not eat it! I weighed the amount of dry food we are giving him and it is about 35 grams a day. It might creep up to 70 grams a day which seems a lot.
Does this sound about right? or too much.
Accoridng to this website I should have been feeding him 4 times a day as a little kitten and should now only be feeding him three times a day!

They also say about not changing cat food but I feel we are still trying to find the one he likes! I am pleased he now likes James Wellbeloved dry food which someone said was a good one.
I leave two bowls of water out plus a bowl of wet cat food and a bowl of dry and I also put the dry on the cat tree, so he can eat whenever he wants. If the wet is not eaten I throw it and if the dry if not eaten from the bowl I put it on the cat free and refresh the bowl. So far the dry all seems to disappear eventually but the wet there are definitely some flavours he won't eat!
This article interested me, she seems to be saying wet cat food.
