Advocate.

Only thing that worked on my cat, ring vet asap - you can get it on prescription.

Frontline is a total waste of time ime.

Toomuch2young · 25/08/2013 17:45

Fleas are becoming immune to frontline.

Advocate or advantage for the cats and some vetkem acclaim for the house.

CrazyHamsterdisguisedasatree · 25/08/2013 17:56

Even if they have never had frontline before ?

It's not the cats that get immune, Crazy - it's the fleas. They might have been 'hopped' by some particular local breed that have come to regard Frontline as a tasty pre-dinner snack!

Program injection? Lasts 6 months, renders fleas effectively sterile by stopping adults laying viable eggs, and flea nymphs from being able to grow properly (stops the chitin coat forming). Adults you'd still need to spray for if you have a big infestation, but it gets rid of the intermediate stages and pupa reservoir. Eventually they all die.

Not cheap though! We fed the monthly version to our old lady cat (RIP) and I never got bitten once in the 13 years I lived with her. And I usually get bitten by everything that can bite.

CrazyHamsterdisguisedasatree · 25/08/2013 21:01

how much is the the injection if you don't mind me asking Smile

I think it's around £50-60.

MisForMumNotMaid · 25/08/2013 22:22

I had a bad infestation once.

I did a weekend blitz.

Bathed and crated the cats and dog.

Flea powdered entire house.

Hot washed all sofa covers, throws and cushions.

Flea powdered sofas.

At that time (10ish years ago) frontline was the thing. I put spot on on all the animals about three days later. I also had the spray.

After about 10 days, I re flea treated house and rewashed sofa covers just to ensure I'd caught them all.

Took absolute hours to get done. I've had sloppy periods of flea protection since but never had it bad like that onetime.

Fluffy Shock That would not be such a bad price if I didn't have 4 cats Smile

Thanks Mis

If you get the monthly one (where you have to feed it to each cat, making sure each cat gets a whole dose!) it's £27 for six months at VetUK

Still Shock though for four cats!

RIP Fleas on the house and Seresto collars worked for us - one of the cats is allergic to fleas, so he's a good early warning system for fleas, no sign since we've used the collars.
