thyroid friendly diet?

our old cat (15) had thyroid problems, we've tried both of the brands of tablet from the vet and both make him vomit. last week he went downhill rapidly with v&d, and has spent the night at the vets last night, am hopeful he can come home today as his blood tests were ok (as in kidney, liver, platelets etc), it is just thyroid.

next step is to try the diet, anyone else with a cat on the thyroid friendly food? how expensive is this going to be and is it successful?

Sorry not much help but our old cat wouldn't touch her special diet so we needed to bypass that treatment option

We ended up sending her for surgery at vast expense (carried out at the poshest vet's practice I've ever seen - out local vet couldn't do the operation so sent us to a leading cat surgeon in central London)

We were very worried about how she'd recover from the operation given that she was already 15 but she bounced back and had 3.5 more years of mostly healthy and happy life before finally succumbing to kidney disease at almost 19

thanks basildon. our cat did come home yesterday and is still quite weak, but is so far eating the food ok, so we'll give it a try.

I have to admit having not been that successful with the food and tend to remove the thyroidectomy of the cats who have problems with the tablets.
