3 month old kittens & injections questions

Hi, I have two kittens, one male and one female, who are 3 months old. They are having their first set of injections on Tuesday. The 2nd set a week later. When can they go outside? They are both desparate to get outside and have managed to get outside through the odd open window and when we've opened the door and they have bombed past! I am trying to keep everything secure in the meantime.

If they've had all their jabs in theory they can go out but you may have been recommended to keep them in until after neutering by the vet? Apparently they can shed the virus for up to 7 days after their jabs.

My kitten is also desperate to be out but she's going to be neutered at just over 5 months old and we're going to keep her in until then. Agree it's very hard keeping them contained in the house over the summer isn't it!!

Are you in the UK? Just about all of the UK vaccines require a 3week gap between the two injections. There is then a 7 day gap before they are fully protected by the vaccine.

I wondered about that one week gap in the OP.

Yes the one week gap is very odd. It's normally three.

I would keep them in until they've been neutered, which can be at four months - five maximum.
