Cat drool...

So Hidingcat has a very cute (occasionally annoying!) habit of demanding strokes in bed as soon as my alarm goes off. She generally sits on my tummy, and loves head strokes and ear tickles.

This generally leads to copious drool, and this morning something totally gross happened. As she leaned in for a head rub, a large drip of drool landed on my lip!

Thank goodness my mouth was closed at the time, otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have swallowed it.

Does anyone else's cat drool as much as Hidingcat?! Can we do anything to calm it down?

I'm lucky, I guess - never had a drooler cat.

How old is she and have her teeth been checked recently?

yuk! Yes I have a drooler here. She kneads on my boobs and shuts her eyes and dribbles. To an outsider it would like quite weird I'm sure!

I have a drooler and a trainee drooler.

I'm sure I saw on a tv programme or t'internet that cats drooled when they were really happy/content/blissful.

We tried it once with our other (sadly departed) cat, got her to sit on my knee then stroked her head, neck and chin while chatting to her and sure enough a few minutes later she drooled!

...yeah, hes just under two years old and quite stand off-ish.

He gives me approx one minute of affection a day at a time and has drooled once.

She's a rescue, so we're not 100% sure, but about 3... Teeth have been checked- vet said they weren't fantastic, but nothing to be concerned about given her rescue status.

Yes, that's exactly why Hidingcat does- the kneading bit can be quite painful!!

Sorry... but I'm glad I'm not alone in the drool on face situation! It's gross!

Mine does this but has apparently been trained by her previous owner to sit next to your lap instead of on it! It was a bit bleurgh at first but don't mind now :)
