I've messed up

We are due to go on holiday in 2 and a half weeks and just checked the cats vet card and his jabs ran out in December 2012. They won't give him a booster injection as we are 8 months over and want to start the course again. But there has to be 3 weeks between the 1st and 2nd injection and the vets won't do it earlier. The Cattery won't take my cat with just the 1st jab.

I really don't know what to do has anyone got any help or advise.

I always use a cat sitter. My cats can get in and out through the catflap and the sitter comes over twice a day (although one visit would probably be enough) for half an hour each time, I pay £7 per visit.

Thank you, I've just had a quick look for pet sitters. We don't have a cat flap and the just cat wonders in and out, I can't lock him in the house for 8 days he would go mad to get out. If the sitter let him out then he would be out all day and night.

You've just got time to buy a cat flap and train him to it, I think. Is he already chipped because then you could get a microchip cat flap which are great because they would only allow him to use it. They're easily fitted by anyone who is even slightly handy.

PS - Even if you have no pet supermarkets nearby, they can be bought online and you could have one with you by Monday if you acted quickly.

I fitted my catflap myself. I have the microchip one, I bought it from the vets. I think it was about £50ish, there are much cheaper ones than that, and my cats took to it after a couple of days. Unless you get a pet sitter who sits in their own home, which they usually don't for cats, or ask a neighbour to pop in a few times a day I think thats probably your only option.

No back door only glass patio doors so can't do a cat flap

I've found a cat sitting service near us that will come twice a day. I thought they could cane in the morning and let him out and then back late afternoon to let him back in and feed/ water/ play with him.

He usually goes out in the morning when I leave for work and then always come back for dinner and sleeps in the house at night. he doesn't venture too far and is usually around our road that could possibly work.

You can put one in a patio door but that process (plus his training) would be outwith your timescale, I think. Still - something to consider for the future?

The other arrangements should work if they're a decent cat sitting service and will wait for him to come in if he's not waiting there already.

If he's not chipped already, I'd get him done before you go just in case. That's a pretty quick in and out at the vet.
