Injured cat.

I last saw my cat (killing a bird!) on Sunday. I was starting to get worried about him when he turned up this evening limping and with a maggot infested wound on his tail.

We've taken him to the vets and he's had his tail cleaned, anti biotics, fluids and pain killers. He's in a nice basket at home and he's not a happy chap.

He can't support himself on his back legs - vet thinks it could be a broken pelvis. He's not presenting as being hit by a car though.

What on earth has happened to my poor boy?

Fallen out of a tree? I'm sorry he's so poorly. Will there be any lasting damage?

Should add he's back at the vets in the morning, we all thought rest at home tonight would be best - he's a nervy anxious boy at the best of times.

It's like he's been trapped or something. He was really dehydrated and obviously he couldn't get to his tail cos an open wound developed maggots.

Obviously reading another missing cat thread on here makes me realise it could be worse. At least he's here. Feel so bad that he was trapped somewhere when it was thundering.

I wondered that. I'm going on a walk in a bit to see where he could have been trapped. His sad meow when he appeared in the garden was upsetting. He's out for the count now.

One of our cats came home like that and had a broken pelvis. Vet said he thought he had been hit by a car poor thing - after X-rays etc we took him home and vet said no jumping lots of rest and the vet said he will heal by himself. He did just that and apart from a limp is doing fine.

Hugs, it's awful when this happens but so glad he got himself home and now vet can help him get better.

Maggots clean wounds though, at least it wasn't rotting.

There was a kitten on here with Broken pelvis and healed up.

Turns out he was run over on Monday lunchtime. He must have been lying injured in the heat and thunder until yesterday evening. He has got a broken pelvis the poor thing. I'm bringing him home tonight.

I reunited a deceased cat with it's owner yesterday that had been hit by a car. Sad Came home and gave Sparkling cat a big cuddle.

So pleased that he managed to get home to you. (( feline hugs))

A woman round the corner mentioned about a cat being run over on Monday and then disappearing when I was chatting to her this morning. She thought it was her next door neighbours black cat. But obviously it was mine.

The main worry is making sure his bowels/ bladder start to work again. If they don't then he'll have to be pts.

The fracture can heal by itself, but he'll be confined to one room for at least 6 weeks and he'll always have a limp.

My cat came home with a limp a few months ago. After many tests and X-rays we found it was soft tissue damage . Vet recommended rest, I messaged everyone I could and managed to borrow a dog cage and had it in the front from so he could see us all. I think being shut in a room on his own won't be good for him overall so maybe try a dog cage too?

He'll be in our living room, so not alone. He does love his company! I think as he begins (fingers crossed) to get mobile again he'll need to be caged. I can see him wanting to jump around as he recovers. He's a very active 2 year old boy normally. God love him.

We're collecting him at half 5. As far as I'm aware he hasn't wee'd yet. But as the vet said he's sore, swollen and hasn't eaten/drunk properly for a few days. We're giving him until early next week.

He's home and he's done a big wee!!! He's not impressed at the concept of cage rest!
