My elderly tom (19) is extremely happy at the moment. His routine consists of: food, drink, cuddles, sleep. Rinse and repeat at intervals.

He's extremely attentive at the moment.

Yes! My middle aged boy (13), who is usually very much a home cat and barely goes out of the house these days, has taken to stretching out on a shady patch of the lawn for hours at a time. I'm enjoying it because he isn't permanently pestering me for food!

Madratlady · 10/07/2013 23:14

My black cats don't know what to do with themselves. Boycat eventually set up camp under the hedge, emerging occasionally to lie full length o the kitchen floor and whinge at me. Girlcat disappears for hours on end soI assume she's found a cool spot somewhere!

She's loving it! We hardly see her at the moment - just turns up at meal times & then she's off out again. Very happy cat :-)

cozietoesie · 10/07/2013 23:53

Seniorboy actually went out and slept on the top hall carpet for half an hour this evening. Not a happy camper.

Maybe try giving her a groom? I've jut given my boy his evening groom and it proved very acceptable. Loads came out also.

SunshineBossaNova · 11/07/2013 00:16

Poor Seniorboy and Preciouskittie.

There's a lovely ginger/white tom down the road who chats away to me as I go past. Today and yesterday he has allowed me to fuss his head and ears, normally he'd move away.

Mine is hating it - but he is a longhair moggy (not Persian, just very fluffy, with paws like snowshoes, and more adapted for the cold weather really!). Not sure which of us is wilting the most. We are giving him cold water bottles to cuddle up to to cool down and he is also camping out in front of my desk fan during the hottest part of the day - usually avoids wind and draughts so it must be desperate measures!

cozietoesie · 11/07/2013 19:34

Seniorboy is out on the hall carpet again. What is deeply unfair (albeit understandable) is that I'm getting blamed for this and am being talked to chidingly. He thinks I have the power to do everything which might affect him and doesn't understand why life is so miserably hot right now.

Taffeta · 11/07/2013 19:40

Taffcat is loving it. He's 3 and his day mainly consists of lying sphinx like ,paws outstretched , in the shade or sun dependent on heat of day, darting across the makeshift tennis court we've made in the garden at full pelt and rolling around in a bed we dug over recently that is now dusty earth.

He's v purry Grin

SunshineBossaNova · 11/07/2013 20:46

cozie Sunshinecat chides me for not sorting out rain and snow. He tells me I'm a failure as a slave. :)

He's stretched out on the sofa watching me.

Moan, yowl, moan, yowl, pace.

'No - I can't do anything about it. I'm sticky too!'

Moan, yowl, moan, yowl, pace.

Gawd.

Hassled · 11/07/2013 22:38

Mine are just filthy on account of all the rolling in dust they're doing.

ceara · 11/07/2013 22:40

cozie mine is just the same. Unsatisfactory weather is mine and DH's fault (ditto rain) and grievance procedures are duly instituted. It is touching he thinks we are so omnipotent.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/07/2013 22:46

We have all our windows open and the shutters closed, so it is relatively cool indoors, with the breeze coming through the windows. Grey Kitten spends her day as close to the window as possible but Large Maine Coon is in his usual space on the bed, lying on his back with his legs in the air.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/07/2013 22:48

One of my very old cats seems to have developed a new lease of life and is enjoying the outdoor life. Mind you, I still have to prod her once in a while to check she is still breathing.

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/07/2013 22:49

my cats love this weather. Lots and lots of wild food and then a snooze in the sun or greenhouse. They are far less miowy than usual

MrsGeologist · 11/07/2013 22:51

NobCat is not happy. He's been spending most of the day hiding in the hallway, stretched out as wide as he can.

PrincessKitKat · 11/07/2013 22:55

My 2 KitKats love having the patio door open & very purry.
Thankfully it looks like it's too hot for boykit to catch anymore fledglings Confused it's been like the Somme in our kitchen lately.

FelineFurry · 11/07/2013 23:58

Oh my Persian is loving it. He had a lion cut about a month ago andso isn't carrying around a big thick coat. As soon as it became warm his coat became really knotted so he needed a shave.

He seems to love the French windows being open. He's in and out like a yoyo and now likes to sit looking out. He also particularly enjoys playing in the garden as there is loads of shrubbery to hide in so he loves jumping out of it when you come out.

SunshineBossaNova · 12/07/2013 00:20

Our neighbour has a lovely ginge who chats to me and DH as we walk past. He's so happy that he spends the day lying in the bushes, and has let me rub his head with my knuckles as he lays there. He usually is a bit more cagey :)
