Feeling pretty horrid right now ...

Having to let my Kittens go a week early as advised by the vet because mum is losing weight due to them still feeding from her (they are 11 weeks) .
Female kitten is sat in the basket crying her heart out as she has never been away from her mum .
I feel so mean , its going to be worse when mum realises she has gone

1 of the boys is going Saturday & still trying to find a home for the other (I may keep him)

I wish I could keep them all .
Her brothers are now looking for her

How is the mum going to react to this ????

She'll probably sigh a sigh of relief!

There will be a slightly bad 24 hours probably when she looks for them but after that she'll be back pretty well to normal. Remember that in the wild, they'd be kicking them out by now. Give her some TLC and nice taste treats.

What did the vet say about spaying her ?

A small story. When I went to get Twoago, we were introduced first to the kittens (about 12 weeks old) in the Kitten Room and then Mum was brought in to meet us. She completely ignored the kittens and headed straight towards us with an 'Oh Thank God - People!' look on her face. She couldn't have cared less about the kits, I think.

Hi, just thought I would add that when I adopted my cats it was a Mum with her 11 week old kitten. I was told by the lady from the CPL that I had to adopt them together. They have since had to be separated as they fought constantly and my vet said that the CPL where crazy to adopt them together as it did neither cat any favours.

I have been told they have to be neutered from 6 months onwards

Our cat looked for his mum and siblings on the first night but didn't pine for them at all, he soon made freinds with two of the neighbourhood cats.

She has my other Cats searching the garden n she is running round the house yowling

Ah well. Best thing is to get on with ordinary activities and ignore her. (I'm sure you're not talking to her and saying 'Oh poor girl - are you missing something', eh?)

Hamster mine were neutered at 17 weeks, you don't have to wait until 6 months

Ah right , every vet I spoke to wouldn't do them until they were 6 months

Our kitten is about 17wks; vet said last week to take him in any time from now for neutering. I thought I had to wait til Sept!

I was told 6 months too, it sounds like different vets have different opinions on it though, the question is are there any health risks associated with early neutering?.

I took ours to a different vets to be done at 5.5months and bitterly regret it as I think he freaked out and they had to restrain him. I'll always feel guilty I did that.

Has she stopped looking for the kitten op?

Yeah she has stopped looking , her brother hasn't though

He will sooner or later. She's enjoying the return to no responsibilities I bet.

Regarding tom neutering we (Celia Hammonds) normally say five months, but we even do it at four months.
