Really smelly sloppy kitten poo

We have 2 11 week old kittens.

One is fine but the other keeps doing massive sloppy poos that stink the entire house out.

He won't cover them in cat litter either.

It's not diarrhoea, but more like toothpaste & a bit grey in colour.

Trip to the vets? Or is this entirely normal.

What are they being fed and watered on?

They have water.

He is also the one who cowers & runs away if you try to go near him.

I think that's just his personality though. The other one is much more friendly.

Try stopping the dry food and using maize/wheat free pouches for a few days but do get him checked out at the vets because it can't be nice for him to have a runny tummy.

By the way - not covering poos is fairly common if they're pretty smelly - they're so disgusting to the cat that they run for it as soon as they're done. He might also be feeling a bit unhappy with himself about 'his smell' which could go some way to explaining his attitude.

I'd try getting a second litter tray for the duration. You probably need one extra if you have two cats and having a clean one (if you don't notice a smelly poo has been done) is better for them. They don't acquire bad habits such as going to a clean but unauthorized place. It's always useful to have a spare around in the cupboard anyway.

I've bought some cereal free dry food and put a lot less in the bowl and upper their wet.

I'll see if it makes a difference.

Definitely get another litter tray as suggested by cozietoesie (can't be nice for either of them having to use one if he has a runny tummy).

Ours were a bit like this when they first arrived with us - we stopped giving them "commercial" cat food and started on cooked chicken with a little bit of rice - worked a treat. They particularly liked thighs/drumsticks/anything with a bone, put in roasting dish, topped up halfway with water and cooked quite long and slow - they are big jelly fans! and DH and I are softies

Obviously de-boned chicken before they were served lovingly hand prepared and triple checked fed

Felix and Whiskas, IMO, produce these types of nasty poos because their meat content is so low and there's so much in there that cats don't need that it all get expelled in smelly poos.

If you give a high meat-content wet food (I use Grau, Animonda Carny and Lily's Kitchen) it smells a lot less and is better formed.

Now mine eats mainly raw there is so little smell I don't know when he's used the tray and it's very dry and crumbly (supposed to be!) so doesn't make a mess of the tray either.
