But what about the smell?

I use chick crumb for litter, it doesn't smell at all unless he's done a poo.

Luckily poos are usually done outside.

Relatives of mine had one in the living room of their flat, with two cats.

Not a good smell.

Not a good design, although it looks lovely. The outer box is MDF and plywood. Every time your cat 'missed' it would trickle into the wooden joints and you'd never get it out. Over time the box would begin to rot.

I do love how the scoop is on a hook inside the box though, maybe as a hint to the cat to tidy up after itself

It might work better if there was a covered plastic tray inside the box. It does look quite good, but I would want something with carbon filters.

We have this covered one and it is brilliant as it has an inbuilt sieve, so no messing around with a poop scoop.

Can't manage a link on my iPad but we have a £15 covered tray from zooplus, with filter & scoop in lid, used with Tigerino silica litter.

It doesn't smell until it needs changing (unless a cat has eaten something it shouldn't, like pansies, & even then it's fine once the evidence has been removed)
