Random question about 11 week old kitten

I adopted an 8 week old kitten off of a friend who was too stressed to keep her any longer. She is brilliant and settled in really quickly, had her first lot if jabs and is just a pleasure to have!

Anyway onto the question...
We have a big fluffy/fleecy blanket that is folded in the corner of our living room.
She keeps going up to it and suckling it! She was weaned when we got her and has absolutely no problem eating and drinking, she would eat 4 pouches of food a day if we let her.

Is it just that she was so young that she is trying to suckle on this blanket? Is there anything we can do? And should we be worried at all?

I haven't had a kitten since I was a really small child and my last cat lived until he was 22 so it's all very new to me

It's a comfort thing, 8 weeks is still young to be away from mum.

My last cat lived to 22 as well, and she did this pretty much all her life - I wouldn't worry; she was a bit young to leave Mum, but I'm sure she'ss be fine.

I believe they are more likely to do the dough punching as I call it, and other kitten behaviours if they were young when they left mum.

Doesn't appear to do them any harm its like a comfort action, my dressing gown gets a daily pawing and my cat purrs away doing it. I've started leaving it out for her as she likes it so much!

My large and beautiful and a little bit annoying cat was turfed out by his mother at 12 weeks. He sucks his tail, jumpers and blankets.

We knew she was too young to take away but it was the best option for the kitten as we were going to take her at 12 weeks anyway.

She is really loving and would cuddle all day long if she had the chance. Apart from the odd bite and scratch she is a sweetie
