Protecting litter tray from toddler

My cat (old, set in her ways) uses a deep litter tray located behind a sofa. DD will be crawling any day now and I suspect will make a beeline for the litter tray! I don't want to move the litter tray as it is the best location we've found, and when we had one with a lid in the past the cat was not at all keen. Plus even that solution means there is still litter kicked about near the tray.

I think what we need is a freestanding barrier at the most accessible end to physically repel DD but which cat can squeeze round.

Does anyone know of such a product?

Put it in a playpen? Unless your cats a bit on the fluffy chubby side.

Good idea, cat is very skinny!
