My boy is missing

My gorgeous ginger boy has gone missing Sad

I haven't seen him since yesterday afternoon.

He went out about 6 yesterday evening as we left the house to go to a BBQ. He wasn't around when we got back or by the time we went to bed, which isn't unusual.

We have a garage which the cats can get into if they're out at night, they each have a bed in there and a bowl of water.

He's usually waiting at the back door when I get up if he's been out all night but wasn't there this morning.

I've been out calling him, shaking his box of food, tapping a bowl with a fork - no sign.

I'm really worried - what else can I do?

Confused

Scatter the contents of your vacuum cleaner around the garden. Your boy will hopefully pick up the scent and follow it. This worked for me when my kitten escaped for the first time and was missing for 24 hours. Hope he's home soon x

Thanks cuddles, would never have thought of that.

Just been round the block calling him again, no sign Sad

Is he chipped, QueenOfCats?

QueenOfCats · 09/06/2013 15:12

Cozie, yes. All my boys are chipped and neutered.

I had an email from the chip company on Wednesday actually, asking me to check the details they have and had to update my mobile number.

Have just called local out of hours at the vet hospital - no cats taken in.

Put up posters.
Leaflet your surrounding neighbours asking them to check sheds and garages - with the nice weather these are ften open and he may have got shut in.

QueenOfCats · 09/06/2013 15:29

Good idea Soup, will get on to that now.

I could cry Confused

3 of the 4 cats I've had/have have all been stuck in a garage or shed at one time or another. The 4th often gets stuck in a bedroom!

hellymelly · 09/06/2013 15:37

agree in Summer cats getting shut in sheds and garages is very common. Walk your area at dusk and call for him, you may hear him if he can't get out of somewhere. Leaflet every house, but calling in person and asking if you can call for him in their garden/near their shed etc can be more effective as he may stay quiet if it is somene he doesn't know of f he is holed up hurt. Hope he is home safe soon.

It's awful We've been there a couple of times worried to death about where one of ours may beSad

It's early days yet. The weather has been nice and people have sheds and garages open. It's also the weekend. Someone may have gone aways for the weekend and accidentally locked him in. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

One of these days I'm going to make my fortune developing GPS systems for cats.

Cuddleswithcats · 09/06/2013 15:54

Posters on lamposts with a picture of him can be a good idea, as well as knocking on doors and asking people to check sheds and garages.

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 10/06/2013 11:26

Any news?

RightsaidFreud · 10/06/2013 13:08

Knock on neighbours doors and ask them to check sheds? It was so sunny yesterday, lots of people might have been doing gardening/had sheds open and its so easy for them to get locked in- our boy (all black) got locked in our neighbours shed one winters nights, he snuck in late at night just as she was locking it up! we heard him meowing the following morning from her garden.

hellymelly · 11/06/2013 18:07

Hoping that he is home.

loveliesbleeding1 · 11/06/2013 20:02

Hello hope your little man has come home, just a tip that might help if not, have you tried puttingout his litter tray if he uses one? He might smell his own scent, best of luck

QueenOfCats · 11/06/2013 20:53

Should have updated Blush

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

I had dd making some flyers and had knocked on all of the houses on my side of the road, came back to see how dd was doing and he turned up! Just walked up the garden path as laid back as you could get - I was SO relieved!
