Old cat food......

As in my old cat who is 16 now has only 3 teeth left but still a hefty appetite any recommendation for soft food, the only mainstream meat I've found he'll eat is the gourmet perle mini fillets everything else seems to much for him to cope with.....but it's full of sugar so would rather get him something else. Also anyone use a really absorbent cat litter, he has a tray outside and is peeing so much at the moment I can't keep up. (I'm taking him to the vets on Friday to get him checked again although his kidneys were fine at the recent teeth op!)

I have an older boy in much the same situation - one more tooth than yours though. He'll eat Gourmet and to be honest, I'm pleased to just get food inside him to keep his weight up.

I've found, though, that he's actually very fond of the Co-op own brand gravy foods if you have one near you and we're talking mainstream foods. A particular favourite is the Co-op Gourmet chicken with gravy which comes in a single black pouch with orange on it (so you can try just one) and although the top of the Co-op range is still cheaper than Gourmet.

Are you sure it's just him using the tray outside? (Wondering if an indoor tray and a secure catflap might be better for him.)

Have you tried dry food I have several totally toothless feline patients who happily wolf down dry food.

He doesn't seem happy with the dried always used to eat it, but have tried and he isn't really eating it much. Will try the coop stuff cozie thanks. It is just him using the tray as he is drinking vast amounts of water, unfortunately.

Just a thought. Seniorboy hasn't eaten dried since I had him - likely due to his tooth situation - but has decided that he likes the Whiskas Crunch Pot dried food which is smaller than the regular. Might be worth a try for your boy.

PS - I'd be interested to see if the vet OKs him re the recent drinking a lot of water. Let us know how he gets on.
