What's the best thing to use to clean up cat pee?

My male (soon to be neutered) cat keeps peeing everywhere and I mean everywhere. Up the front door, behind the tv, up the bath, up the bathroom door, up Dds radiator and up the kitchen door. I keep clearing it up then spraying with dettol but the smell is still there every day. What's the best thing to use? he has a litter tray and goes out but will being neutered honestly stop him peeing?

No to clean his pee and prevent the smell and will neutering stop him peeing everywhere but outside and his tray

non bio washing powder gets rid of the smell to us and the cat so he shouldn't go back to the same spot, never use bleach, cats think that bleach is another cats pee and will keep peeing in that spot.

Yep neutering him will help lots.

It can take a few weeks after neutering for all the hormones to go so don't chuck the carpet cleaning kit out yet.

sorry for being flippant. It will def improve when he is done - best case, no peeing at all, worst case - less peeing (and this will also decline in time, neutered toms really don't pee inside) but a lot less overpowering. As others say, the hormones have a decay period and will be gone in time. I feel for you right now though - it's like toxic gas.

its awful because he can go in & out as and when he likes yet I can go and drop dd off at school, come back and walk in the door and my house stinks of the stuff. I feel so dirty because of it I'm constantly cleaning and searching for more.

As above, neutering should help enormously. One of my boys who had already started to spray, stopped completely on neutering so your chances of that are real good. I feel for you though - it's a horrible smell. Luckily it won't last if he stops.
