Me again Smile
I worked out the dates for my cat & she was due yesterday & yet their is still no sign of labour or Nesting at all .
She is still waddling about , eating & drinking .
Should I take her to the vets , I don't want to stress her out though .
Should she be nesting at all ?

Sorry I sound useless , I just haven't done this before & didn't even know she was pregnant until I took her to be neutered Sad

Why not put the birthing box behind the couch in her favourite spot so that she gets used to it? You'll likely want to restrict her movements in the last while anyway so that she doesn't have free run of the house - and if her immediate requirements are being met in the sitting room, you've got a good chance she'll use it.

crazydrunkevilhamster · 02/05/2013 16:13

It's a really small gap , I haven't the slightest clue how she fits in their & I've no way of moving the sofa out due to lack of space

OK - can you move the sofa back so that there's no space at all so that she doesn't have them there and you can't get in or she squashes the newborns ? The if your BB is a cardboard box, say, put it out of the main thoroughfare somewhere and cover it with a towel or some coverlet so that it's nice and dark and den-like.

crazydrunkevilhamster · 02/05/2013 16:47

Nope its got an arched back (the sofa that is) might try & put it in the conservatory out of the way

Ah well - any other rooms you could easily confine her to when you reckon her time is near?

crazydrunkevilhamster · 02/05/2013 18:15

I think the conservatory would be best as I can still keep an eye on her , she is very restless as she has just been wondering round all day & usually she sleeps all day

cozietoesie · 02/05/2013 18:20

That's one of the signs. Hope you and DP are ready for a few all-nighters?

crazydrunkevilhamster · 02/05/2013 18:35

I'm already on all fighters with a poorly Ds so I'm use to it Smile

Myself, I think I'd get all her stuff in the conservatory then and put her in it - so that she can get accustomed to it if nothing else. Check the temperature as well to make sure that it's OK for kits. (It's still pretty cold some nights in certain places.)

crazydrunkevilhamster · 02/05/2013 19:15

It's never cold in my conservatory always seems to be just right in their , have moved all her stuff in to the conservatory though she won't let me lock her in their completely so ill just have to keep an eye on her

cozietoesie · 02/05/2013 19:18

Keep a close one then if she's restless. Last thing you want is for her to escape into the great outdoors at this juncture.

Best of luck.

Ha! She will wait until tonight no doubt.

One of my girl woke me up padding on me, I was half asleep (5am) STBXH had left for work and she was purring so I thought she was just coming to say hello, then she lay down and pushed out her first baby, on my bed!!

I moved here over to her birthing box and sat beside her, she had 9, 8 survived, I thought she was never going to stop, it was my biggest ever litter, anyway, her box was at the other side of my bed but she getting out and carrying her kittens back to me on the bed (even when I got up) so I ended up moving her box to right beside my bed and lying down with her and voila she sopped carrying the 1/2 day old babies!

I miss having kittens. Envy
