Best cat flap for folding/sliding doors

Hello,
We are looking o get a cat flap fitted, and the only place to put it would be on a folding sliding (concertina) doors we have going from our kitchen to the garden - does anyone have any cat flap recommendations?!

I'm having trouble imagining that. Can we have a photo?

Do you have space to put one in a wall - the staywell microchip cat doors have tunnels so that they can be fitted into walls.

That my challenge my uploading skills! But it's this kind of thing - so double glazed - have called the company who originally fitted them and they say a cat flap can easily be installed, and any cat flap can go in (as long as it's double glazing friendly) but guaranteed I get the wrong thing....

Wall space too tight on one side, and on the other it has the downwards rain pipe so thing it's not an option - annoyingly!

Was there meant to be a link there? Have a look at my profile pic. Is it something like that? In which case any standard cat flap will do. I have the Staywell four-way locking one. And yes, they can also be fitted into walls - in which case you want a standard one with an extra tunnel.

All cat flaps (apart from the extra large/small dog ones) are the same size - so if you later decide you want a microchip reading one or similar then you can just slide out your existing one and slide the new one in - well a couple of screws are also involved but it's very easy.

cross-posted. Yes in that case any cat flap is fine. And you give it to the door company who will make up a new pane for you with the hole in it and will fit the flap for you. And if you want to change the flap later, as I said, it's very easy indeed as you will already have the hole.

Out of interest how much are they charging you? Mine cost £350 and that was about 10 years ago - but then it was a very large pane they had to replace.

London - £260+vat and I have to provide flap.......

Well I think you've got a good deal there. I remember it did seem like a lot of money for a cat flap at the time, but it has been invaluable and has always felt like money very well spent:)

And if you have somewhere to store it then keep the old pane. Then in the future if one of your panes breaks or the seal fails then you have a spare.

been meaning to get one fitted for ages, but decided enough is enough and am doing it this week!

Is it double glazed ?

The problem is that double glazing doesn't "work" after a flap has been fitted and you'll likely get condensation in between the panes.

I think I've only ever seen white and wood-effect frames. That could be a challenge

they are double glazed.......have seen some PetTek ones (from NZ) that are clear, but can't get them over here!

Cumfy - I had a flap fitted in my large double-glazed sliding door ten years ago and I've had no problems at all. (See my profile picture). As long as it's a reputable company who do the hole then there shouldn't be any difference. You are still getting a sealed, double glazed unit - it's just that there is an extra hole in it - which is also sealed.

The problem with clear ones would, I imagine, be that you would see all the inside bits - the screws, the seal of the glass and such. I think you might be better off with white. It will annoy you for a while but then you'll stop noticing it:)
