Fat cat has fallen asleep on my lap and I can't possibly move him just to go do the school run, can I? I'm sure the kids will understand.

And I dislike this cat, btw, though he's a pure lap junkie the moment it lands. Brought fleas into the house, regularly scratches people, Batters doors to get them open or just to remind me its breakfast time, Fat Plonker, fights with other cats.

The children adore him, of course.

I miss having a cat. My dad had two brothers who were so different it was frightening. Both ace hunters and fairly large. One alpha make who took no shit and swiped you of you went for any more than a brief scratch under his chin.

The other was like a 4 month old baby, he would whine and cry and purr non stop and, like yours, would plant himself on your knee until he decided to move.

Both of my dads passed away in last 2 years, enjoy him. Pita cats are the best!

When I was young [old gimmer emoticon] one of DM's rules was that he or she who had the cat on their lap was excused duties for the duration. I have attempted to follow this rule with my own family ever since.

Sadly, not always, and depends what the options are! If DS or DD visit, they take precedence, but after all it is the prerogative of a Queen to choose who she will honour.
