Kittens eating cat food!

We have new kittens-12 weeks old now-and have been feeding them kitten food (Whiskers). They have, however, been trying to pinch the older cat's food and have gone off their kitten food! I can separate them, that's fine-but is there a reason they can't eat the normal cat food if they prefer it-will it harm them? When we had kittens when I was young-I don't think kitten food existed and they just had normal Whiskers etc!

i dont think it will do them any harm just make sure they have good quality kitten biscuits as adult food is lower in protiens and fats which kittens need
