1st time cat owner- Maine coon?

Hi we have been talking about getting a cat for a while. Finally convinced dh we both come from dog families but think a cat will be a better option for Us. I've lived and looked after cats before and so has he. I'm going to meet a breeder tomorrow to look at their beautiful ginger maine coon.
So what do I need to know? No advice too stupid I just really want to know what I'm letting myself in for :)

Yes to the shedding. My MC seemed to be attempting to escape via the Dyson. It will need to be groomed regularly to avoid the undercoat matting up. Cutting out chunks of felt is no fun, particularly round the rear legs/bottom.

Otherwise, enjoy! I loved my MC. Biggest, fluffiest and most affectionate cat I had.
