Do you use a cattery?

I'm a fairly new cat owner, we adopted our gorgeous bundle of fur last year but never had a cat before.

We've used a cattery when we've been away but this time they're full so I've booked her into a different one. It seems fine, v similar to the other one but there are a couple of things I'd like to ask you experienced lot about.

They only get fed twice a day whereas I feed her 3 times a day at home. I'm sure there is dry food available in between, is this normal practice in catteries?

Also, will she be ok cooped up in a smallish space for a week? She's used to having the run of the house and garden and lots of cuddles. Am I being a bit precious? Me and the dds love her v much and I want to know she'll be happy.

I think 2 x daily feeding is normal, mine has 4 pouches a day at home but found out last time they only give him 2 a day! no wonder he's pleased to see us after a holiday. He cant have dry foods.

She'll be in her little pen all day but they seem to cope with that part quite well.

Most of the cats at the cattery we use are totally chilled and come to you for a fuss as you pass them, they are the perfect advertisement for the cattery. Then you get to ours hunched up on the shelf trying to ignore what's happening to him.

I take his duvet with him, his furry fleecy throw, a hot water bottle for chilly nights, his scratch post and enough food to last the stay. I put a few toys in but he has plenty of other cats to scowl at and that keeps him occupied better than a catnip mouse and a ping pong ball ever could. He loves falling out with other cats.

The cattery fuss them and they are both pet/cat people so I feel very relaxed leaving him there, DH makes me ring them every morning while we are away to make sure he's ok. All I have till I ring/text them is "are you going to phone them?" "have you rung them yet?", "I cant believe you havent rung yet, it's 10.30". You would think they had never looked after cats before the way he goes on.
