Can anyone recommend a good stain removal spray!?

Our cat has been sick a couple of times on the (stupidly) beige carpet and I want to get something good in to deal with any future occurances! We had Tesco upholstery and carpet cleaner which is superb (and has got rid of the sick mark from this morning) but I've just been to buy some more and they've stopped making the stuff! 1001 doesn't seem to do anything useful and neither does the Vanish carpet mousse.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

to get rid of smell of sick pour loads of bicarbonate of soda on the stain (cover with a towel if you are likely to walk on it by accident) but try to let the whole thing dry and just vacuum up.

if you then want to clean with the wet carpet cleaner that's fine, but be careful - hubby once did this without vacuuming first with normal vacuum cleaner, bicarb bleached the carpet! (sick &smell were gone though...)

Carpet doctor stain remover is good - they sell it wherever you can hire the carpet doctor machines (B&Q and Tesco near us) but it works best if you get to the stain right away, not sure if it will work on something that's been there a while.
