Have to keep cat inside for 5 days...help!

It's only day one and he's already got the hump! Is there any way we can distract him from sitting by the door howling all day? I can put up with the carpet-scratching and swipes at my feet, but the howling is driving me mad! He absolutely hates the litter tray and will hold off using it for as long as he can so he's probably desperate for a wee, poor thing. It doesn't help that he can hear us opening the door to let the other 2 cats in and out.

He can't go out as he had an abscess drained yesterday and the vet is waiting a few days to see if it will heal on it's own or need a stitch. I think we may have a long weekend ahead!

Try putting some damp compost into the tray. Messy but it might me the litter he hates.

Other than that plenty of playing.

I sympathise but spare a thought for us. Our cat has just had an operation to repair ruptured tendon and ligaments and has to stay in for 3 MONTHS .
She's not allowed to go up and down stairs or jump anywhere. When we go to bed or out to work she has to go in a little pen
She's not a happy kitty
She has to go back to the vet's to have the dressing changed under GA once a week for the next 3 weeks.
