Feliway - do I need to get one?

Our new kitten is coming to live with us at the weekend and is 11 weeks old. She has been in a shelter with her sister. Is a feliway really important to help her settle in?

I can't find my old one anywhere and I was wondering if a refill would work with an old airfreshner plug in??? Or is that a really stupid idea??

What tips are there to help her settle in?

Is she an only cat?

Ours called out for his mum and his litter mates until he had a bowl of food and realised he didnt have to share it with them no wonder he was skinny.

She needs somewhere quiet and warm with toys she cant choke on (it's like having kids isnt it) and all her food, water, tray.

Years ago my grandma put a clock under her dogs bedding to mimic the sound of mums heartbeat and stop him feeling lonely.

We just brought our new kitten home on saturday.
but we also have 3 cats at home and TBH i have never used feliway for introductions.
My 3 boys are really easy going anyway so the trick is to doing introductions slowly.

The kitten has her own room with her pen, litter tray, toys and food. She has settled in really well and has had a lot to get used to as she was born on a farm. She has never lived indoors so is having a whale of a time.
She comes downstairs during the day with me and my current cats are taking an interest from a distance. But lots of sniffing and only a couple of hisses because they are scared of her,Which is funny because she is so tiny!
(She is the size of a 4 week old kitten although she is nearly 10 weeks)
But she is not fazed by it at all.

If she is going to be an only cat then i dont think you will need feliway.
just keep her contained to one room at first and let her get used to you.
If you have children make sure they dont make any sudden grabs towards her (children naturally want to pick them up) so she doesn't get freaked out and lash out at them.
Let her suss you out in her own time and gradually introduce her to the rest of the house. Kittens are pretty adaptable and as long as she knows that you will be providing food and love shouldn't be a problem.
