'kittens in shed' update.

I posted a few weeks ago about finding kittens in the shed.

Well mum and kittens are still with us, we have a voucher to get mum spayed and am pretty sure we will be keeping the white one with black spots.

They are doing really well and mum has chilled out loads.

DH is happy now as mum is out at nights so no pooping in the house and the kittens are adorable.

Oh good, Here - I was thinking about them. Glad DH 'came round'. What are the prospects for homes for the ones you won't be keeping?

A friend wants the other girl so we have 3 black boys to find homes for, I haven't even tried yet as they are no where near being ready to leave.

The kittens should be weaned and switched over to "litely" wet dry kitten food
by 6 weeks.Also,a Low,clean water dish must be changed every few hours to
Prevent bacterial contamination.Our Tabby is 13 weeks,(an indoor kitten) and
I can't Part with him.Had we decided to give the others away,we would have
waited until at least the 11th week.They are stronger and more independent
at that age.Tabby will be fixed after the 6th month.He is to be an indoor cat.

Just a quick one, don't know the back story so sorry if this has been covered.

You mentioned mum is out at night and that you have a neutering voucher? Has she not been neutered yet? She will be highly fertile so would need done ASAP. Sorry if this is telling you what you already know but wanted to double check so you don't end up with another litter!

My brother's cat had kittens and was killed by a speeding car when they were 3 weeks old. Between us all we've been hand rearing them. They're currently here and driving me absolutely crackers. If they're not scaling the curtains, they're batting my photographs from the top of the piano. They sleep or dash about like mad things. Cute, v cute but dear lord they make a mess.

glad to hear that all worked out well but as someone else said be careful mom can get pregnant again within 4 weeks of having the kittens so i wouldnt be letting her out to range all night and try to get her neutered asap once the kittens are 8 weeks old and weaned you should be able to get her done

shes booked into be neutered at 8 weeks they said they would still neuter her even if she was in the early stages of pregnancy again so not to worry about her being out. it was either let her out at night or they all had to go, so its the lesser of 2 evils.

glad to hear its all worked out for the best, one wee cat and baby with a home, she wont have to forage again to survive and of course no worries about having any more kittens and glad she won round your DH :)

Don't be surprised if she is pregnant when she goes into be neutered. Ours was about 2 weeks pregnant when we took her in after her litter - and we'd tried keeping her confined! It wasn't nice having her spayed whilst pregnant, but really there are sometimes no other options. I would start spreading the word about your kitties so that they can go as soon as they are ready (12 weeks ish) - they are so cute at this age they should be irresistable. Can you try and insist the boys are neutered?
