2 kittens for the first time... What do we need to know?!

We are going to view them at the house next week. If we like them we can take them there and then.
She told me they are litter trained and are de-fleaed and wormed! Would there be any proof of this?

What should I ask?

Why do I need to buy? The list so far is:
Cat basket
Litter tray - what type of litter?
Cat bowls
Food - what do kittens eat? Wet and dry or just dry?

What do I need to do/know when we bring them home?!

Ask what kind of litter and food they have now and buy the same. When you bring them home confine them to one room at first and let them get used to the smells and sounds of your home in peace, don't let the dc be too over-enthusiastic with them, quiet and gentle is good at first til they get used to you all. You will never sleep. I have a 10 week old kitten and a 1 year old cat. They spend all night playing/killing moths/thundering around the house.

You can buy a cat basket - they will never sleep in it. They will choose someones bed/piles of clean washing/the entire sofa.

They will eat what they choose, it will change on a whim and they will eat a million times a day.

They will cling to your dressing gown in the morning when you are stumbling around making coffee.

They will climb up your leg as soon as you put a pair of tights on.

However, you will forgive all the above because they will be adorable!!! I love my naughty, silly cats so much After a long day at work there's nothing better than a little kitten curling up on your knee and purring. Or a big cat draped around your shoulders and purring. At the same time!!!

Also, my 2 follow me everywhere around the house, it's like having a pride of lions or something!! You'll have a great time with your kittens ;)

We have 2 7 month old kittens who came at 12 weeks and a now 15 week old we got at 8 weeks. The older pair kept each other entertained and the small boy is notably keener for human play and general attention than they ever were. My DD14 carries him around perched on her shoulder.

We have the wood chip litter - haven't experimented a great deal but came across this early and liked it.

The best beds have been DIY - a towel in a snug fitting box under the dining table for the little one. He has outgrown it now but used it a lot in the early days - i also had a rule that the children had to respect the box and leave him when he took himself off there. And then we have a couple of old jumpers in one of those under bed storage boxes on the landing and they all like that.

We do wet and dry food. Wet portioned out and put down 3 times a day for the small kitten, dry food all the time. I keep a few varieties of wet food and rotate them. The big pair are picky and unpredictable with the wet food and that just seems to be a feature of cat life. Our small one currently eats any type of food quite happily but maybe that will change when he has achieved his growth.

Oh and having read about cats' potential for kidney problems I also got a water fountain. They all seem to like that and we see them drinking quite a lot.
