My cat has developed a 'tic'.

Oopscat has developed a weird head tic, like a fast repetitive jerking motion to the side. It's only occasional and it obviously doesn't bother him; it looks like when you get a tic in your eyelid (if you've ever had it you'll know what I mean).

It's been going on for about a week.

Ideas? Confused

soemthing irritating his ear? vestibular syndrome? (caused by inner ear infection) This can cause head tilts of varying severity, not sure about the tic though. See how he goes - are his pupils equal size?

Yes, everything normal except for the tic.

He's 17, arthritic, blind and senile. This is the latest in a long line of things!

oh bless him, it could be to do with his senility i guess. If he were mine and it wasn't bothering him i'd just keep an eye on it and see how it goes, if it gets worse and starts to bother him then take him to the vets.

As long as he's happy and not bothered, I'd prefer not to put him through the stress of a vet trip. He's not pawing at his ear, or acting differently in any other way, so I'm hoping it's nothing and will go away soon.
