Hungry Pussy

We got our little cat from the animal sanctuary 6 days ago and he is starving! The people at the rescue centre told me to feed him twice a day with a handful of cat biscuits with it but it doesn't seem to be enough. He is always dashing to his bowl when I go near it and looking at me.

He is only 6-7 month old, so he has kitten food pouches from Waitrose with their kitten biscuit too. Do I need to feed him three time a day instead of two?

I don't want to make him fat and I wonder if he is settling now and is a bit bored because we can't let him out for another week or two.

You all gave me some lovely advice a month or two ago (I was "NoLogo") on choosing my cat and he is gorgeous and so pleased to be here with us. He is the DSs' "Cat Brother" too Grin.

What does he weigh at the moment and are you feeding him according to the directions on the food?

I'm only being a bit cautious on this (cats can vary in their requirements a bit) because I was guilty in years past of over-feeding a gutsy pig of a kitten because I was so thrilled that he was wanting to eat! (My previous cat having died after a long wasting illness where he wouldn't eat.) The kitten hadn't developed an 'off switch'.

Great that you got one by the way.

I don't know what he weighs cosietosie but I am basically doing what the cat sanctuary told me to do.

I might phone them tomorrow and see what they say..

only give him what they tell you to - my cat can be a bit of a piglet and asks for food long before she's due to be fed

she's a bit fat and vet's told us to get a pound or two off her Blush

It depends, if he's hungry then I'd feed him personally because they dont stop growing at 7 months.

You can tell after a while if they are genuinely hungry or just greedy.

We've had an overeater and it was easy to tell as he would throw up everywhere with undigested food.
