Urgent cat help

My elderly cat recently got fleas and I treated her with frontline. She continued to itch and bite herself to the point where she had scabs along the skin on her back.

Years ago she had something similar & the vet said she had an allergy to the flea bites. I took her to the vet yesterday and they treated her with more flea drops & gave her a steroid injection for the itching.

Today she seems to be much less itchy but has suddenly gone very lethargic. Twice today I've seen her lying on the ground with her head down in front of her. She seems quite disorientated as well and her eyes are wide as if she doesn't quite know where she is.

Could this just be a side effect of the treatment yesterday? I've got another appt at the vets this aft but not sure if they're just going to charge me another £50 to tell me it's just a side effect. I did ring them to ask advice but they said the only side effects could be excessive thirst.

Hi, have you been? Hope your cat is ok. Sorry about the state of your wallet (I feel your pain).

I think you are doing the right thing taking her to see the vet again. I hope the appointment goes well.

Are you part of the Redwings sanctuary? My neck of the woods.

No, I'm nothing to do with them, the nn is after the bird. People keep telling me about them though, they sound good :)

Thanks everyone, she's perked right up Smile She slept all morning and was all floppy but then suddenly got up, ate some food & milk and trotted off round the garden. Her eyes look ok and I've not seen her hang her head down again.

I cancelled the appt in the end as she seems fine. Will keep an eye on her but hopefully she was just a bit dopey. Maybe she was exhausted after being awake scratching every night. Anyway she's on the mend thanks for your replies.

I'm glad she's better :)
