Cat walking into things

My two year old cat since last night has been walking into things such as the table, doorframe, clothes rail etc

He's eating fine, and is his usual affection on his terms self.

Anyone with any ideas? Being a sunday want to avoid extortionate out of hours vet service.

I would imagine he either can't see or something is badly affecting his balance- is he wobbling into stuff or walking in a straight line right into it?

I am not a vet, I am just trying to think of the likely causes of someone walking into stuff.

Cataracts, maybe an ear infection affecting his balance, could be neurological :( hopefully something simple like beginning of ear infection or eye infection that's easily treatable but could also be cos of brain swelling or a stroke or tumor vitamin deficiency ( hopefully not though) I would at least call a vet :(

Keep very close eye on him invade hex ingested something and these r early symptoms. Is he salivating more than usual or wobbly inbeteeen episodes of binding into things ?

The DCs haven't cut some whiskers off by any chance ?

Since I posted this cat has disappeared hope he's okay and has just gone out of the heat.

My dcs wouldn't have cut the whiskers, but that's not saying someone else hasn't.

I'll await his return and see what he's like then.

Eek, disappearance is worrying - cats do tend to take themselves off somewhere if they are feeling unwell.. I think you need to try and find him - check garage, shed, under beds, in drawers etc and get him to the vet tomorrow.

Check his pupils too, over-dilation can impair their vision and that needs medication.
Hope it is nothing serious.

Second finding him x in this instance very important. If he's loving I'd take the opportunity when u find him to grab a brush and give him a groom and check every part of him for cuts/ scratches/ bites etc. If theirs a wound ( especially a cat bite their mouths r filthy) then that could be an entry point for infection which is possible cause of the bumping into things :(

Don't wait. You need to go and find him and make sure he is ok.

His loving amounts to rubbing himself against your legs if he so decides.

His brother's the affectionate one, who you always know where he is and what he's doing.

This one is Mister Adventerous (has got a metal pin in his leg due to fighting a car 18mths ago). I knew then something was up as he came and sat on my lap.

Check out locally, garages, sheds, behind and under bushes etc. He may be feeling better and be out on the razzle but he could have taken himself off to a quiet place - and he may not come for food if he's not feeling too good.

How's kitty did u find him?

He's come home!

Who knows what was up with him! He may have concussed himself or he may have been having a funny moment.

But he's come in pushed his brother out the way to eat his dinner (normal), checked that the house is as he left it (i.e. walked around all the rooms), no bumping into anything. Come for a leg rub, allowed me to rub quite hard all over his head and no lumps and no flinching or anything. And has now left for a bit of a night on the town.

Cats more stressful than children.

Glad he's home :)

Might still be worth that appointment though . My cat had a funny turn then appeared to right herself and appeRed normal for days after til one day it happened again :(
