Cat is bringing me bees.

My cat has taken to suddenly wandering back into the house when he's been outside and walking into the room I am in. Then he crouches down and spits something out and it is always a ruddy great Bumble Bee! Usually a half dead, soggy, very very cross bumble bee. To avoid then having to hunt the angry bumble bee down, I have to wait for him to pick it back up, carry him outside and then have a loud 'Drop it...DROP IT' conversation in the back yard whilst holding cat's head and trying to open his mouth.

Is this a version of 'bringing me gifts'? How does he not get stung in the mouth? Do other cats do this or do I have a Freak Cat intent on filling my house with angry, stinging creatures.

Will he kill spiders for me when Spider Season starts?

That is very cool. He must hold the bee very delicately so as not to get stung. I would worry about him getting stung but I don't see how you can stop him catching them.

Mine catch and eat spiders and flies, so yes you will probably get spiders next.

dont know why they do it my half siamese thug decided to have a fight with a bumble bee the other day sadly for the bumbly the cat won and he didnt get stung luckily

Our cat takes hours to kill bumblebees, I never leave him with one I take the cat in.

He also tries to eat wasps but I think they sting his mouth as he spits them out, looks at them as if he cant quite work out why they are hurting him so much and then puts them back in his mouth. Then he spits them back out and looks at them......

I'd rather have bees than live mice, birds and rabbits.

One of my cats does this, walks in making a racket and then spits out a pissed off bee in my direction. She is about 12 years old now and yet to be stung, how I do not know.

Mine is eating bees at the moment.

Sorry all, I completely forgot I'd started this thread! I'm very glad that other cats do this too and it's not just my weirdo furball. I suppose he isn't being stung or he'd kick up a hell of a racket.

He is now sat next to me here, happily bee free. I will pass on to him the comments from you all that think he is a cool bee-spitter! I'm sure he will be very proud....

Mine has now progressed to moths - anyone else getting moths?

Ours happily kill spiders but don't eat them.

I haven't had a moth in the house yet and he doesn't go out after dark so no moths for me yet.

Trazzle I am really REALLY hoping mine is a Spider Killer. I don't mind if he eats them or not (DP reckons the 'hydraulic fluid' in their legs make them taste nasty ) as long as he just kills them for me.
