So Sad :-(

We just had to have our beautiful little cat pts, she wasn't even 2years old until October. When we got her she was far too small, had been taken away from mum too early, I had weaned her all over that Christmas and she pulled thru and was truly beautiful. Christmas 2011 she went missing for 11 days, I searched tirelessly for her until we eventually found her. A check up revealed a minor heart murmour. A week ago I noticed she was off her food a bit and rapidly losing weight, have monitored it and she seemed fine in herself and I was managing to get her to eat small and often, vets appt booked for tomorrow afternoon. Arrived home this evening to a wobbly and lethargic girl who was sat just dribbling, rushed her to emergency vets, they ran bloods and scans and she was in end stage renal and heart failure, we have just held her while she was pts, my beautiful baby cat is gone.

As if that's not bad enough, 2 years ago today we lost my Nan.

Just needed to get that off my chest x

Oh Lisa I'm so sorry. Sending a big hug. It's so hard when you lose them and especially at a young age.

I lost my beloved little black cat when she was 18 months. She had a hear murmur too. Sad

Thank you for your replies. She was a truly beautiful little cat and it won't be the same without her. The vet said she probably should have died as a kitten and no doubt would have if she had stayed where we got her from, seems we beat mother nature in the beginning but she too what was hers in the end.

Sad

We lost our last cat at just over a year old to the road, no more cats for us, seems it's just not meant to be.

So sorry, Lisa. It hurts like heck, I know. Sad

Don't say 'no more'. There will be another one waiting for a loving mom somewhere out there shortly. You just have to be open about it when the time comes.

So so sorry. :(

Don't say never right now, my ragbag was a stray that never left three years ago, I wouldn't be without her now.

Thank you all for your replies. I won't say never but definitely for now he cat flap is firmly closed. Feel much more calm this evening, we have buried her at our little stable yard we lease under a pretty tree that we see every day.

You'll know when the time - or the future cat - is right Lisa. I've buried more boys than I care to have buried but I know that when this one goes, which could be any moment because he's so old, I'll get another lovekin. In the meantime, I live each day with him to the happiest. When he pops his clogs, I'll salute him. (Probably with good whisky.) And then move on.

I'm so sorry for you with your loss right now. It's a raw, bright hurt. It eases though, in time.

Thank you all for the replies, I'm still so sad to have lost my gorgeous cat but cannot bear the house with no kitty in it, we're way for a few days next week and when we come home we are going to look for a new addition to the family. We will never forget our Nala or replace her but we have a lovely home for a cat and would be a shame not to use it.

Quite right.Smile

And remember to think of older cats as well. Shelters are apparently almost at their wits end at the moment they have so many unwanted animals.

LisaD1 · 19/08/2012 18:12

Thanks cozie, we had a lot of help earlier in the year from cats protection when our monkey went missing for 11 days, they helped us find her and took the all important call when she was found. I'm going to call the lady that helped us and see if we can return the favour Smile
