Food for kittens - recommendations please.

We've had our two kittens for a fortnight now and they have nearly finished their food. I started them off on a James Wellbeloved kibble which has agreed with their tummies, and which they love, but at £15 for a 2kg bag, it's a bit pricey! Got a bargain on my bag in PAH as it was nearing its sell by date and down to £10.

Anyway, would like something a bit ore affordable but don't like the look of Whiskas kibble with all the bright colours (thinking additives!). It may be perfectly adequate and, if it is, someone please tell me so!

That aside, what brands are reasonably priced and worth trying to get locally rather than a 40 min drive to Pets at Home?

the rescue where i work uses royal canin baby cat and all the kittens like it i dont think its cheap sorry dont know what price it is but pets at home sell royal canin dry foods, ouch just looked online expensive,

one my cats like is purely range from pets at home about £6-£7 for a 5kgs bag is another one with less cereal additives etc and no artificial additives or colourants, i use the adult one but im sure they do a kitten version,

got to admit when my ginger boy biscuit was a kitten and had horrendous tummy problems i bought james wellbeloved and it is a good one but its expensive

I was recommended by the Cats Protection lady to feed my kitten on Royal Canin.

You can get some good deals on zooplus. I always use that site - excellent/quick delivery and customer service too.

Bit worried about one of the kittens today - watery eyes and some loose poo. Other kitten isn't sharing the bed with her at the moment either which is really strange. Vet in the morning if no improvement.

we got our kittens last week. I've been feeding hilife wet kitten food - £5.50 for 12x85g sachets, but it's 60% meat which makes it quite good value I think

we also have some Hills Science, & Iams, dry kitten food

they went to the vet on Tues & she gave them some dry food to distract them from injections - that was Royal Canin (growth?) & they scarfed the lot so I've been wondering about getting that when current lot runs out

Millie, one of mine landed with sticky eyes (have been wiping with DIY saline which seems to have done the trick) & both have developed loose poo, but the food I used was different from what they had in birth home, & also I did give them a bit of cows milk for the first couple of days; it seems to have improved a bit today

Welcome Millie. Got my kitten a few weeks ago, and ordered the 4kg along with some toys :-)

I have been giving her a couple of heaped teaspoons of tuna on a morning and evening too. One tin lasting me three days. Her coat is lovely and glossy :-)

Sorry I missed your replies! Very good point about getting free delivery on a big order from PaH. The kittens are eating the Pets at Home Purely kitten food as recommended up the thread. I think they prefer the James Wellbeloved .

The little one with the sore eyes cost me £34 in vets fees (although that included two worm tabs for each kitten and one for the dog which, alone, probably cost around £6). Eyes are much better with an antiviotic Oint though she gave use a fright at the weekend. We found the floor sprayed with blood courtesy, I believe
