anxious when travelling

I have two kittens, and once every couple of months I go through to visit my parents which is about an hours drive away. Biggest kitten is fine with this she wanders into her carrier and sleeps for the journey, wee kitten doesn't do as well. We've done this journey twice and shes miaowed most of the way there and last time she was sick.

Obviously I don't want her feeling distressed and was wondering if anyone had any advice? do you get travel pills for cats? would putting her in the carrier with biggest kitten help?

If the kittens get on well, there's no reason why they shouldn't travel in the same carrier - our sister cats travelled in the same (large) carrier all their lives. I don't know if that would help with the little one's anxiety though.

You could try feliway, see if that calms the little one at all? Or does she have a favourite fluffy blanket or something you could put in her carrier for her to snuggle into?

We've only ever tried this when transporting one cat, not two, but we have found that they have been happiest when they are out of the carrier and can sit on someone's lap. However this has only ever been done once they are mature and sensible enough to stay still and not maraud all over the car. But my current cat is very happy to curl up on my lap for the hour's journey to my parents. He is a pretty laid back cat though.

I feel for you, an hour is a long time to listen to a distressed kitten Sad My first cat would miaow constantly when we travelled anywhere, be it 10 minutes to the vets or an hour when we brought her home the first time.

Hope you find something that works.
