I was wondering if someone can recommend a good cat flap to me please. I need one for my UPVC back door and have just had a look on amazon and the choice/ price difference is incredible.

TIA

Depends on what your specific needs are - I've had a fat cat flap, when one of my cats was too large for a regular cat flap. I've also had a £50 infra-red cat flap, when I had a wimpy cat that was allowing all the strays to come in and eat all his food, so that meant only MY cat could then come in.

I would say that Staywell are a good brand, although all cat flaps are an arse to fit. But the Staywell ones come with adjustable tunnel strips so even if the flap is for a thick door, you dont have any edges to catch the cat on.

If you have hefty or strong cats, go for a locking mechanism that is on both sides of the doors - otherwise they will manage to get out, the ones that just lock on one side can be flimsy.

I would go to Pets At Home or similar, find the right size etc for your cat and you can always look online for a better price.

I like the petsmart ones because they have a brush seal so it's not as draughty, plus the locking mechanism is in the middle not the corner.

My cat prises them open using the opposite corner.
